Travel Season Begins | RV Life

The other day we got into the motorhome and left for our next destination. I felt so good! It had been months since all of us were in the motorhome together on a travel day. We picked up our passenger vehicle in October of 2023 and I drove it to our winter spot and Wolf drove the motorhome. As we begin our travel season I said to Wolf, might as well get back into our normal travel way. We left the passenger vehicle in its summer storage spot since we don’t tow. Now here we are in March of 2024 and all of us are together again. One thing for certain, I don’t like the separation on travel days. It didn’t feel right.

Last week, I was absent. Sometimes life hits you with something that takes the air out of you and well nothing outside of your inner circle matters. It did. I am a different person than I was ten years ago. Now days very little bothers me. This situation left me feeling stress I hadn’t felt in ten plus years. My entire body tensed up and I was a mess. I needed to be in my motorhome, in my bed and my surroundings of serenity. The first night back at my current life, I slept great and felt like a new person the next day. Amazing how your space can make it all right again. Having this view put my mind and body back in place. Do you agree?

This was taken one morning from my dinette window as I savored my morning coffee. The lake, the mountains, and watching the sunrise over the peaceful campground.

Ms. Lightning bug did not need surgery. A few days before the scheduled date I noticed the lump was gone. No longer there. I called the vet and canceled the surgery. I am going back and forth if I made the right decision. She is 13 years old. She eats, sleeps, pees and poops normal. There is absolutely no change in her behavior. Why put her through the trauma of surgery to find nothing? And let’s be real, to spend the quoted $600 to hear nothing is there. I am keeping a close eye on her and if there is any change at all, I will certainly get her back to the vet. So, if we are traveling and I see it, we will head back to home base.

Now onto travel season. I feel like a newbie again. Excited to get back on the road and see new places and visit a place or two we didn’t have time to see last season. So, are we jaunting across the country? Nope. We are still driving around the western side of the United States. I do have places to visit on the list for the eastern side of the US. I am just not ready to go see them. For personal reasons we need to be close to our home base. The other reason, I haven’t finished with California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Nevada. So many options, this is what I love about RV Life.

I am determined to visit Death Valley and Alabama Hills. At the moment there is water in Death Valley. Several social media posts I see of people paddle boarding, kayaking, and standing in the water. It will never happen again they say, see it now. I say, never say never. Mother nature is in a bit of a mood lately. Did you know most of the Spaghetti Westerns were filmed in Alabama Hills? There is even a museum, and I will see it this season.

I do have several National Parks on the list. The west is full of them. I do buy the National Parks pass every year. I should get my $80 worth. I don’t get the discounts; I am not of senior age yet. I did plan out our route, I have not looked at or made reservations to stay anywhere. That part of planning gives me a headache. I still feel better winging it. I may regret this way of thinking at some point. We do have a couple of popular places on the list. We’ll see how it goes.

A few more business items to deal with near our home base and then we are off for adventures. I am excited for our second season. I think the dogs are too.

Until next week, Teresa from PetsLifeAdventure
