RV Decorating | Full-Time RV Life

Is it possible to make it look like home?

“We’re camping” I don’t care what the inside of the RV looks like. We only use the RV for sleeping.”

That is the perception many have when they think of RV life. But for people who do the lifestyle full-time, we’re not camping. This is home. This is where we do everything we did when we lived in a house. We just do it in different locations. You are living in an RV, Yes. You can live in anything that provides shelter.

This past week we covered a kitchen wall. This small change made a big difference in the RV.

At the dealerships lot, I walked into the motorhome for the first time. I saw the red pitcher board against the wall. I thought the previous owner put it there for grease splatter. I didn’t think too much of it. It wasn’t my style; it certainly wasn’t a deal breaker.

After we brought our Lazy Daze home, I wanted to give it a good cleaning. It was cleaned up good, but it wasn’t my clean. I took the board down and saw the torn wallpaper. Ah, okay, this is the purpose of the board. Still, this is not a big deal to me. Our motorhome is 25 years old. It wasn’t a big priority change for me, so I cleaned it and placed it right back in the same spot. We lived with the ugly red pitcher board for a year.

The reason for our stationary winter was to fix and change out a few items. Now, most people don’t get that excited about toilets and after a few months of pouring water in the bowl from a gallon jug because of a leak, a new toilet is an exciting thing.

Not having to place a paper towel behind the kitchen faucet because it leaked. Changing to a new kitchen sink faucet. This too is an exciting thing. These two items we had to change are what we refer to as big ticket items.

I thought this would be a perfect time to cover the kitchen wall. I also wanted to add a magnetic kitchen knife strip and a spice rack. We love to cook and rarely eat out.

When we go back to traveling this upcoming season our rig will feel like home. Small changes make a big difference. When you go camping it is the vessel to get you to the great outdoors. When you full-time, there is nothing wrong in adding personal touches to make it more like home.

Thanks for stopping by for a read. I appreciate you!
