A Tour of Our Lazy Daze

Welcome Back! Please come in for a tour of our 1999 Lazy Daze 26.5 Rear Bath.

Our “must-have” list for a motorhome was pretty simple:

1. No slides. 2. A walk-around bed or twin beds. 3. Full bath 4. Full kitchen with a fridge and separate freezer.

When we walked inside this Lazy Daze, all boxes were checked. A bonus – no overhead bunk. It’s all storage cabinets. Which is what we were going to use the space for anyway.

Directly behind the cab area is our living room/bedroom.

Our couches by day are beds at night. We could pull them together to make a king, but that is a lot of work and space. It takes me less than 5 minutes to turn them back into couches in the morning. Oh, and do you see those velour valances.

This area is the only section that has been replaced. The seating is not the original. The back pillows are body pillows I purchased at Walmart for $10 each. The rugs I bought from the dollar store a couple of years ago and had them stashed in a cupboard in our house. I use them on the sofas during the day. We do allow our dogs on the furniture, which helps minimize the wear and tear on the comforters, and of course the dog hair. The memory foam mattresses are okay, not too firm. We will upgrade them at some point. We do prefer vinyl-type floors versus carpet. With three dogs and constant travel, it requires daily cleaning. It is on the list to change out. The carpet is relatively new, not the manufacturer’s teal color.

The center area of the motorhome is the kitchen.

The kitchen checked the boxes on the “must have” list. A separate fridge freezer, oven, and stove top. It doesn’t have a lot of counter space, and that is where the cutting boards come into use. The fold-down stove top cover is used as extra counter space. I noticed that when we are on a full-hookup site, it’s in the down position most of the time. I have two small and a larger board that works great to put over the sink when I need the extra space.

The dinette works. It does make into a bed. We will never utilize this feature. Our future upgrade is to take out the velour cushions and replace them with outdoor patio cushions. Or maybe redo the dinette area altogether. We do use the storage underneath for not everyday items, so there is a storage issue to think about.

The items on the countertop stay put on travel days. A thick rubber shelf liner works great for keeping stuff in place when we are in motion. Plus, when we stop for a coffee break, it’s a simple task with little clean-up.

Daisy is a 26.5 rear bath model. The bathroom is the entire back of the motorhome. And the closet! I love the size of the closet for a small motorhome.

There you have it. It is small for most people. We are asked all the time about living in our small space with three dogs. RV life for some is to replicate living in a house with huge toy haulers, fifth wheels, and big motorhomes. We prefer to keep it simple. This couples’ motorhome provides all the comforts of home. The best part of a small motorhome is that we can go almost anywhere without size or weight restrictions.

I’d love to hear how you travel? RV, tent? Let me know in the comments.

I have a blog planned to show all of the little hacks added to our motorhome. Subscribe to the blog to get notified.

Until next time. Live simple, enjoy life, and create memories.
